Valérie Belin – Les choses entre elles (Things Between Them). Les Franciscaines, Deauville, France

The exhibition Valérie Belin, Les Choses entre-elles (Things Between Them) comprises some sixty photographs selected from the artist's most iconic series, including five from her latest series, Cover Girls, which are being shown publicly for the first time. Mirrors, objects photographed as bodies, bodies photographed as objects, portraits of live models or mannequins – and more recently, still lifes, vanities and female portraits of fictional characters – constitute an iconography in which the staging of ‘things’ seems to be the real focus of the photographs. A unique perspective on these artists' work is offered by Annie Madet-Vache, art historian and director of the Musée des Franciscaines, in collaboration with Valérie Belin.
