Painted Ladies, Les Rencontres de la Photographie, Arles

For the 50^th anniversary of Les Rencontres d’Arles, Director of the festival and curator Sam Stourdzé invited Valérie Belin to feature her series Painted Ladies in its entirety at the Mécanique Générale.

The Painted Ladies series from 2017 presents itself as an ensemble of contemporary portraits of women who appear as archetypal figures, blurred between the boundary of painting and photography.
