This series marks Valérie Belin’s return to photographing “objects.” Still, the subject she has chosen seems to have many of the characteristics of an organ one could imagine being taken from a human body. As is often in the case with this artist, the plasticity of the subject produces a heightened effect compared to what emanates from its natural appearance, putting the object in the shadowy zone between living and inanimate.
