Portraits of live models or mannequins, mirrors, objects photographed as if they were bodies, bodies photographed as if they were objects, and, more recently, still lifes, vanities and fictional characters, form an iconographic repertoire in which the staging of ‘things’ appears to be the true focus of Valérie Belin’s photographs.
