On the occasion of Van Cleef & Arpel's brand new collaboration with fashion designer Gaspard Yurkievich and Dover Street Market, Valérie Belin introduces a new photographic composition and unveils the process behind its realization in an interview filmed by Loic Prigent.

“This piece is the continuation of a long-standing collaboration with Van Cleef & Arpels, and reveals our mutual attachment to a form of magical realism. It underlines the play of superimpositions that Gaspard Yurkievich has devised to accompany the intensity of onyx. So I created a black-and-white image in a mirror layout, with two images reversed in an interplay of positive and negative. Midway between a portrait and a still life, it explores the boundaries between reality and illusion.” Valérie Belin.
