The Third ICP Triennial of Photography and Video, September 18, 2009 – January 4, 2010, International Center of Photography, New York, USA.
The Third ICP Triennial will look at the complex and pervasive interactions between art, fashion, contemporary design, and new trends in personal style as they are reflected in photography and video. Since the 1980s, the art world’s fascination with both popular and high fashion has grown in tandem with the fashion world’s passion for art. At the same time, artists began to embrace contemporary furniture, product, and architectural design as significant forms of artistic expression. Increasing numbers of artists have been commissioned to make fashion photographs and have carried some of those influences into their art, while fashion photographers have broadened their range of creative sources and have begun showing both editorial and personal work in art galleries. The Triennial, which will occupy all of ICP’s galleries, will present the work of both established and emerging artists along with a selection of fashion photographers.
